<> * Tomas scans the rooms as they pass, "About as much variety as you'd expect from a military base." * Amadeus nods. "That's my best guess, though for all we know they might have had communal showers as a matter of course." <> * Amadeus walks up to them and starts looking them over, running a hand over the handle before trying to open it. * Tomas strides up beside Amadeus and opens a cabinet, peering inside. <> <> (Dammit. I know I should have checked for traps. brb rerolling.) Locked. You have any science up your sleeve or should I just pull harder? * Amadeus shrugs. "I don't know how to pick a lock. Try not to break it too much, though." * Amadeus backs up and lets Tomas do his lock picking. * Tomas works a grip on the edge of the cabinet and pulls with steadily increasing force. <> You okay? * Tomas dusts his hands off, "Oh yeah. It only nearly smacked me in the face." * Zeke comms, ~Don't let it do that.~ * Tomas moves in and looks more closely at the cylinders. * Amadeus does as well! What could they be? A mystery! * Tomas strokes his chin as he examines the cylinders, trying to divine what in the world they could be! <> * Tomas hmmmmmmmmms. < of text, each of which wrap around the cylinder until they hit a binding point.>> * Tomas's eyes bulge, "Scrolls?" * Zeke comms, ~It is a wonder they managed space travel at all.~ * Amadeus's eyes widen as he looks at the text. ~Well, they probably didn't have fingers like we do. Books would have been difficult.~ <> (Is it kinda like a book flail?) (... what.) (Each page winding around in a spiral? So if you whipped it around, it'd be like a flail?) (Is it a huge round binding without covers, so the pages just kid of fold around the binding?) (Or is it actually literally like the binding is the core, and then it's all been flattened in one direction?) <> (What kind of text is it?) <> Amazing. (Keeping self from making comments on linguistics. Amadeus is NOT a linguist!) We're going to want to take all of these back if we're going to have any hope of cracking this language. * Zeke comms, ~Agreement.~ <> (Right on.) * Amadeus starts gauging how many pseudo-scrolls there are and how difficult they'll be to transport. * Tomas heads to another cabinet, "But first lets see whats in the rest of these cabinets." <> * Zeke comms, ~It may help to have the telekinetics move these all at once.~ * Amadeus nods and hits the comms to contact the other group: ~We've found a number of scrolls written by this race. They're well preserved. We're going to need Lexi or Kyle to help transport them when you guys hve a chance.~ * Tomas continues exploring the cabinets and room in general, "A library, you think? Maybe the payroll office? heh" ~Military operations are known for records.~ * Amadeus turns over another scroll, examining the writing on it. <> Well, they at least had their printing press down. * Amadeus checks around for anything else to, well, check! (Sorry. I know things are busy in the other channel. ^^) (That and I now have a headache from Sharpie) (SO WASTED) <> * Amadeus takes a few scrolls before putting the rest back. They've lasted this long - they can probably last a little longer. He goes to check out the end of the hallway! * Tomas ends his search of the scrolls and follows the doc outside-ish. <> * Amadeus looks over one of the devices as she tries to make heads or tails of it, then sighs. * Zeke's drones are with the team! * Amadeus comms the other team. <> * Zeke comms to Amadeus, ~This is no doubt still of great interest. Further alien civilizations.~ * Amadeus heads back into the scroll rooms to continue examining that crazy writing. ~Oh, without question. I promise you I'm bursting with scientific glee, and I think I have about five article topics ready right now.~ <> * Zeke comms, ~The... gearbox is a sufficient generator.~ * Amadeus starts and looks around before comming to the others: ~You got it to work?!~ * Zeke's drones, or at least one of them, begins to crawl away, back the way everyone came. * Zeke comms, ~The earlier devices may now function.~ * Tomas returns from the outside-ish, "Yeah, doc. Let's go see if anything else is working now." * Amadeus nods. "Let's!" And he does. TO OTHER STUFF!
