<> <> <> (We'd also opened one of the cockpits.) (Correct.) (Can we say I went to try the I/O thing on a couple birdputers we saw before but didn't find anything fantastically new?) (Sure.) * Zeke had one of his drones crawled inside the cockpit! (Wow, okay.) (Are people in /msg) (Nope.) (Total A/C moment.) (So let's talk about the cockpit, I guess.) (Sounds good!) <> (Uh, sorry, I was waiting to make an entrance until after people had done some stuff to establish goings-on.) * Zeke's drone does a bad job of trying to plug a key into the port, to see if an interface pops up. * Kyle checks the inside of the cockpit. It's totally sweet and space-cool. * Amadeus calls up, "Is there room up there?" Plenty prof. It's totally sweet and space-cool up here! * Amadeus mouths to himself, "space-cool?" as he finds his way into the cockpit. * Lexi floats into the cockpit and looks around before plopping down in one of the chairs to look over the controls and see if she can understand them at all. * Kyle plugs his I/O thinggermajigger and checks the readout. <> * Amadeus looks around. "This is amazing," he says, blinking more than usual. Dude, maybe they got two of these things together and fiddled their hands like one of those old aircraft way way back when in the old movies. (So we see no way to actually control it?) <> <> * Hestia appears at the back of the room, or the entrance, or whatever! Her footfalls did not precede her, which considering there are heels on her boots, is pretty impressive. * Kyle looks for other I/O ports on the inside of the craft. * Zeke comms. "This is an unintuitive command interface. I cannot determine the factor that links them all." * Lexi moves towards the back of the ship to see what's back there. <> <> * Lexi returns to the seat and looks around. "How am I supposed to fly this thing?" * Hestia walks toward everyone, not actually bothering to stay quiet and instead looking around, swinging her I/O thing around on its cord distractedly. "Wow. It's so... Platinum Ridge-y," she says aloud, walking over to one of the birdcraft and putting a hand on the hull. "The computers we missed didn't have jack, by the way." < (Specialization?) 2d6+10 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyle (2d6+10) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 20. (Doesn't matter, I don't think) <> Dude! I can fire up the thrusters! I think. Should I try it? ... Can you land if everything goes horribly wrong, which it probably will? Does that mean yes? * Amadeus facepalms. * Zeke's drone starts to crawl out of the cockpit as Zeke comms, "If you must, be cautious." How about everyone clears the hell away from it first. This is gonna be totally schaweee. (Is the ship at least pointed out?) <> <> (So... if we started it it would hit the ceiling?) (Maybe.) (LETS DO IT!) (DO we have any idea where the controls are for actually controling it yet?) (The IO devices control it. >_>) (Right, okay) * Amadeus makes absolutely sure he's not standing and is in a good place to bounce around for when they FLY INTO EVERYTHING EVER. * Lexi shrugs. "If you want to start it I can try and pilot it." (Can I try and just start the engines up, not get i-) (I'm pretty sure everyone but Tia IS inside.) Uh... I think. As far as I can tell it's all controlled with this, though. Maybe you can plug an IO thing in and help out. (We have other IO things, right?) * Kyle tries to fire the engines up. Not BLAST THROUGH THE ROOF, but just get'em going. <> (Lexi: Yes, as mentioned previously, everyone has at least one.) (Oh right x.x) Huh. * Lexi falls out of her chair. "Ow! Well... that didn't work so well." I think maybe it's a better idea to just take these devices and pictures of the ship back to Mars and they can send other people to figure this out. * Kyle managed to brace himself after the movement started, but gets up quickly. "Got it. Each one controls an individual thruster. So... if you have four of them, and proper co-ordination..." * Hestia crosses her arms over her chest. "I wonder if you could jury-rig a networked version of those things." Oh, that's a pretty sweet idea. I don't think that's advisable right now. * Hestia blinks at Amadeus. "Why not? I mean, How hard is it to turn four data streams into one data stream? Besides, those fuckers shot at me, I think the least I deserve in response is to take their..." She glances at the planes, before settling on "...things for a spin." We can try and get'em to work, but it'll take me a LONG time to work it. We might want to explore the other planets first. * Amadeus nods to Kyle. (I thought this was 3 of 3.) (3 of 5) (Oh god) (Three of three around this star. There's still delta bootis B.) * Lexi nods and jumps down from the ship. "Yeah. I'm sick of this place anyway. Let's go." (In fact, unless there's anything in particular you'd like to do on this planet I suggest we move on to the next one. It'll take you about a day to get there.) (Actually... Cham....) (I do have one thing I'd like to try) (Go for it.) * Lexi pauses for a minute. "Wait, Kyle... Did you say perfect coordination? Let me try." She floats back into the ship. "I'll need four of those devices." And you'll have to tell me how to get those thrusters to work. * Hestia glances at Lexi briefly, then slowly starts to grin. "You know, I hope this works? But even if it doesn't, it's going to be really entertaining." Yeah. Oh, yeah, it's a text based system. You gotta put this one in, then rotate to that, fiddle here.... wait for it to say green... then activate. * Lexi nods. "Alright." * Hestia holds her I/O thing out and looks at it. "Still, it's weird... it's like they never got around to the idea of networking, technologically, but culturally they were dependent on it." Maybe they didn't need to. I dunno. They were clearly at some war level with the other crazy liquimetal bird people. 4 pilots to a craft? Not very efficient. Maybe they had some sorta hive mind thing, or they had multiple branez. Like the Insectoids in Balooga's Journey of the Cosmos. Multiple what in the what? So... Deus, T, Kyle can I get your things? * Kyle gives Lexi his. * Amadeus shakes his head. "Hope I don't regret this," and he moves out of the way. * Hestia tosses hers up! * Lexi floats over Amadeus and Tia's devices and plugs them in. "Alright. You guys may want to vacate the ship. If this blows up I don't want you guys pissed at me in the afterlife." * Zeke comms, "Unlikely." * Zeke's drone did already get free, though! * Amadeus gets out of the freaking ship then! NOT DYING IS GOOD. Dude, this is gonna be awesome. I'll stay on the ship. < re(Gah * Lexi plugs the devices in and moves them with TK to reflect what Kyle told her. Here goes nothing! * Kyle keeps an eye on the devices, keeping track of what Lexi's doing and to warn her of any error messages. <> (Go ahead and give me a soul roll, Lexi.) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Lexi (2d6+6) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 11. (Well that's not a great roll) (Could be worse) (It's just a roll to see how bad you feel about this.) (1 success is indeed "Could be worse".) (2 was "Think I got it" and a crit was "AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!") <> (Does she feel as if moving it laterally will kill her?) (Because if not she'd probably try) <> (Hm...) * Lexi hovers there a second and then puts the ship back in landing mode and sets it back down. "Yeah, I can definitely pilot one of these things if we figure out more about the language." That's schawee. I've been working out the language, but it's not easy. <> (I/O devices, anything that isn't nailed down and that'll fit in the ship?) (Some of the ammo for sure) (Yeah, anything that isn't nailed down and will fit in the ship.) (I think the weapons are too big right?) (GOOD THING WE GOT A BIGGER SHIP.) (YES, BIGGER SHIP) (The ships are too big. The weapons fit fine.) (Sweet weapons!) (Or rather, the problem is getting the ship TO your ship.) (I can actually think of a way to do that, I think...) (Going to enlighten me, or just taunt?) * Hestia sighs. It was a good try, anyway. "What we need is someone with the SCA ability to comprehend any language." (Well maybe not... Do they weigh more than 100,000 KG?) (No, but how are you going to fit them down the stairs?) (Because if not I can think of a way, but Lexi can't) (This is a hangar, isn't it? Doesn't it open to the outside?) (Oh. I assumed this being a hangar it had like an exit.) <> (Aha Well... that's a problem, yes) (...wait a sec.) * Hestia raps her hand on the hull of one of the ships. "This metal is like the armor that bird was wearing in the warning vid, right?" Can we... 'melt' it, and snag a sample of the metal? ...Melt the ship? There was a bunch of melted metal on the other planets. Why didn't we take some of that? * Zeke replies, "It would require significant heat, and the ship metal is similar to the gun metal." * Hestia shakes her head. "I don't mean melt it with heat. I mean make it change shape, and grab some while that's happening." Yeah, the gun stuff'd probably work as well. How do you propose we make it change shape? Ask it really nicely? Hell if I know. Maybe that'd work. * Hestia shrugs. "You made one of the wings shift." <> * Lexi shrugs. "Alright... Well I can do again." * Lexi does that! <> (Well I was going to say Lexi since she could do it telekinetically, but since she opted to control the plane, I'll do it.) <> (Zeke.) (I shove him into the molten wing.) (I could TK some of it off) (AWESOME) (I assume we have sample containers or something similar.) <> (If there's a window or something where I can see the wing I can collect it. I still have one set of TK hands) * Kyle heads out of the ship to help procure some Metal (tm). <> * Kyle checks the craft to see what it does now that it's missing metal. <> * Hestia shakes the container, getting that satisfying *clink-clink* noise. "Well, that's basically what I expected to happen, but still worth doing." * Amadeus nods. "It's really fascinating. I'd love to see how it actually works." (PIXIE DUST) <> (Not from me.) (Nope.) I bet it's electral impulses. (err pulses) (Nothin' here.) (Nah.) (Nope.) < ree planets. It appears the power is on at this site as well. There is a suitable landing site nearby.>> * Lexi brings the ship in for a landing! Take us down, Lexi! * Lexi lands. Yay! * Zeke has spent his spare time messing with one of the guns over the past day. He's ready for today, though, as usual. Drones drones drones. <> * Hestia taps her finger on a console. "Seems like another planet of losers in the great Liquimetal bird civil war." Totally. Hey, bugs were involved too. Probably to clean up the mess... Ya know, maybe they made'em fight eachother. All mind-control like. Like, don't they do that in a lot of the movies? * Amadeus gets out of the ship. This time, he's going without a suit - he's probably going to regret this. * Zeke replies, "That seems highly inefficient, Kyle. That would imply... sport." Yeah. Would get in the way of genocide. <> * Zeke replies to Hestia with, "Very much so," as he deploys. What if they were too tough to take on head on? I mean, they got some awesome stuff here. * Hestia shrugs and stands up, buckling on her Batman-style utility/gun belts. "From what I've heard about Bug-hit worlds, that'd be a first." No joke. * Lexi heads outside the ship as well. "Well this looks familiar." (Who's in-suit?) (Meeeeee) (Always in-suit when getting out!) (Yeah. In suit unless we know it's safe.) (If we know it's safe she'll be out) (There is very little distinction in my case!) <> "Shiiiiiiiit." (Are the standard suit stats out there somehwere?) (Yes, on the wiki. Okay, so there's no Sensor attribute or required for that.) This is my pretending-to-be-shocked face. Is it working? <> * Hestia glances toward World 4-4's castle. "Still, the last one had a warning in Sleythin. We might learn somethin... or not." * Amadeus peers at the door (and into the now open doorway). <> * Amadeus's eyes widen. "The *one* time I decide not to wear a suit..." (Last poses then we're done for the week) (I just did mine!) * Kyle opens his eyes wide. "Woah." Wicked! (And then I punched Kyle in the back of the head.) * Lexi smiles. "Excellent. This world is MUCH more interesting!" (SPACE-Wicked!) * Hestia slowly smiles, but her hand is ready to draw that gun if need be. "Well then... what have we here." <>
