<> <> <> (Actually I headed out to the place at the end of last session) (Oops, my bad for misreading! Tia was en route.) * Amadeus is trying to figure out the source of the weirdness sound something or other! * Zeke is starring in Stomp: Space Edition. * Hestia arrives on the scene, eventually. She's wearing a brown jacket and gloves but they're mostly for show; her MGS-style sneaking suit is what's really keeping her warm. NANOMACHINES. * Tomas examines the dudes as they cone up. <> <> * Tomas pokes one in the shoulder. (You're a bad man.) (I know.) * Amadeus taps at the wall, then steps back. "Whatever's causing this is behind the wall. Oh, hello Tia." * Zeke comms, "We should excavate the wall, then." <> * Kyle looks around. "I dunno, the ice might not be solid enough to do that." Don't want to cause a cave-in or somethin'. * Tomas turns from the wobbling icenork, "It seems to be fine even after all of their excavation." * Hestia puts a hand on her hip. "So you've been... playing with small furry animals this whole time?" Not the entire time. <> * Tomas nods at Tia, "Z's been playing chopsticks over there for a bit too." * Lexi examines the wall and shrugs. "So... Any idea what it could be? Are our sensors reading anything or something?" * Amadeus shrugs helplessly. "I can't see through walls." * Hestia steps over to one of the walls, then leans toward it and raps her knuckles on it a couple times. "...huh." * Kyle smirks at Amadeus. "Don't have heat vision, prof?" * Amadeus rolls his eyes. "I'm not Superman," he grumbles. <> * Zeke comms, "Do you need assistance excavating?" * Hestia just... stares at the wall for a moment, then turns around and jerks her thumb at the wall. "Here." (Someone throw a rock at Zeeg) (He's too far away!) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyle (2d6+8) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 15. * Amadeus blinks, then goes to take a good look at 'here'. <> If you're going to risk having the cave collapse on us all, do it over here. It looks pretty safe. I think... <> * Hestia puts her hand on her hip and steps away. She is not a geologist, so someone else can do the heavy lifting. "There's a very good chance either us, or someone else, is going to be very wealthy once you break that wall down." True dat. * Hestia blinks and turns, giving Kyle a look. * Amadeus gets out of the way. He's given up giving Kyle looks. * Zeke stops making noise as he steps off the veins and walks around the corner to the vibratorium. Although he does step on it a few times on the way for curiosity's sake. <> <> <> Hestia lets Zeke get on with it, and looks at Amadeus. "So, what's with the natives?" * Zeke avoids stomping the guys as he approaches the wall, looks at it a moment, and then puts down the geological tools, pulls out some of the more drilly ones, and gets to work breaking the ice down. * Amadeus watches them. "It looks like they're... crashing, perhaps." * Lexi shrugs. "Too much partying. I know how it is..." * Lexi laughs then. "Who am I kidding? There's no such thing..." Something like that, yes. When you take in a lot of energy and burn it up, you crash. The language of party girls is universal, huh. <> * Zeke reaches out a metal hand to it. "The noise... is unexplained, but the resonance is clear." <> * Hestia waves a hand at what Zeke has unearthed. "THAT... goes further down. A lot further down, I think." <> * Kyle whistles. * Amadeus blinks at the Si+. "How strange." (*squints at the ATC wiki*) (?) * Lexi nods. "Yes. Strange, but good for us!" (Or lack thereof. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_NAMESPACE, expecting T_STRING in /home/www/chamelaeon.com/atcdex/includes/Namespace.php on line 49) (... what the fuck did Calc do.) (I blame his upgrades.) This level of purity is rare, yes. Even I have not seen this. (Looks like you got some namespace in our string.) * Amadeus nods in agreement. "I'm just wondering how responsible it would be for us to mine this. It all takes more reserach, I suppose." The noise is still, as I said, a mystery. <> * Zeke adds, perhaps helpfully, "As is the light." Is this the life form the computer's been signalling us about? * Amadeus takes a few steps closer and gets a good, careful look at the crystal and light. Could be. I mean, it could be living. Or somethin'. That would be extremely unlikely. Silicon plus does not function in that manner. * Hestia glances at Zeke. "In *what* manner?" Even though she's talking to him, however, her eyes glaze a little. This level of purity would normally make it non-functional for computer-style conductivity. If it is alive... it uses methods I do not understand. Regardless, I think that removing the Si+ would actually remove these creatures of their food source. You think they're eating the Si+power? * Hestia steps toward the Si+ a bit, then puts her hand on her hip again. "Interesting." She glances back at the group. "Ship sensors confirm it. This is your life form 'blip'." * Tomas looks more closely, raising his hand and saying, "How." * Amadeus nods. "And it does extend into the ice, without question." He looks at Kyle. "They're certainly eating *something*." And I don't know how - yet. * Zeke squints, then says, "There is electromagnetic activity as well." If this is a lifeform, and I had to compose a... metaphor, the silicon plus here is most like a... plant. <> * Amadeus nods in agreement. So what is it that's being transmitted down, is the question. Silicon plant life? That's totally schway/. It appears to be light, and it causes electromagnetic activity. * Lexi shakes her head. "Huh... So does that mean there's no way to take a sample of the S+?" * Zeke looks at Lexi oddly. "Why could you not take a sample?" I don't know... captain environment over here seems to think that it would be inhuman to take away their food or something? Probably could take a sample. (Captain whatnow.) (Amadeus said removing it all would remove their food source. I think Lexi's overdramatizing!) (I dunno. Apparently I'm like a super Planeteer?) I mean, if the ecosystem is that frail that it can't handle a little chunk being broken off by whoknowswhat, it wouldn't last long anyways. (I dunno. She's crazy girl) (You believe what is called what?) (SPACE planeteer.) ( HEART BULLETS!) (SWEET) (... isn't "space" planeteer... kind of dumb?) (You're the dude who came up with Space Jesus.) (You're not allowed to talk ever.) (Space is full of planets. How can you be a planeteer for only one planet if you're in space?) (ALL PLANETS) (Yeah! They're called Universeteers! Duh!) (Spaceiteer?) (You'd have to be like a solarsystemteer and that's just retarded.) (Why can't you care about all planets?) (THEY ARE CALLED BIOINC BIONIC SIX. WOO OO, OO OO.) * Amadeus nods to Kyle. "Zeke, mind taking a sample of the Si+?" * Hestia glances around, then shakes her head and makes a little show of removing her right glove. "Guess I don't have much of a choice." She steps over toward the big honkin' chunk of Silicon Plus. * Zeke shakes his head. "No." And then he starts to take the sample. Unless Hestia stops him! * Hestia stops him! * Hestia takes a deep breath and puts her hand on the surface of it, palm-down, and shuts her eyes. After a second or two along her hand, then up her arm to the shoulder, lines of purple light become visible along her arm. * Zeke doesn't take a sample. He gets to impassively watch Hestia do the Lumiere instead! (Zeke is eaten by a giant space butler.) (Very Noooooooooo) * Hestia suddenly jerks her hand back and gives the Si+ a... look. Hey, that's a pretty awesome trick. Unexpected? * Hestia shakes her hand out, then puts her glove back on. "God, that was creepy." What *was* it? It's a... Si+... tree. Sort of. * Amadeus blinks. Sort of? Silly, T. Si+ Doesn't just grow on trees! ... okay seriously, what's up with it? (That's our Lexi! *laughtrack*) So it IS a Si+ plant? (/rimshot) Yes. Sort of. * Zeke's holoface briefly looks annoyed, then, "If this can effectively repdroduce, it would be of significant utility." That's cold, even for you. (*dies laughing*) No more cold than harvesting lumber, I suppose. (LET'S GET THE MASSIVE PLANET-SPANNING ORGANISM TO BREED) * Zeke looks over at Hestia. "People grow new plants from old plants, yes?" * Hestia looks back at the... whatever. "It's like a root system on a global scale. And it's got a..." She knits her brow and spins her hand in the air a couple times. "...awareness. Something." (Zeke wants Bonsai planet-spanning organisms.) (We're in Avatar!) A THINKING Si+ plant. (No, thank god. Haven't seen it yet.) Tree. (Or is that Fern Gully?) Thing. (Most of the people I would go to the movie with CANNOT SEE 3D) (Soul Hi-Five with Kitty!) <> * Zeke asks, after some thought, "If the root system is planetary, does that mean the non-root portion is... at the core?" * Hestia nods. "It goes down quite a way." * Zeke comments, "It would be interesting to see what the core of the plant is. But a root sample is likely enough." (It's molten. We know that already.) (Burning hot mag-ma. I made the joke and everything.) (Plant, not planet.) (Oh, right.) (*summons the space butler to carry Zeke off anyway*) (Woo!) (So very noooooooo) * Zeke goes to take the plant sample again. It looks like a fun time. <> * Hestia shrugs. "I suppose it's not much worse than a bark clipping from a tree. Still, I doubt you're going to be able to grow it on your windowsill." I would like to study it more, yes, but at the least, this is our job. <> (We already have one! Do we need to get two?) <> <> (We didn't exactly figure out the feeding mechanism.) (It was some sort of energy/vibration/noisey thing.) (We have one as a sample! Can probably figure it out later.) * Amadeus lets out a small sigh, then looks around. Anything else worth taking note... let's see. * Hestia steps away from the Si+. The icenorks are more interesting at the moment, AND they are not giving her the distinct impression that she pressed a stethoscope to the planet's proverbial neck. That seems to be about everything. Well. * Amadeus goes over to chip some ice for a sample. Why the hell not; maybe there's something interesting in there. Now it's everything. * Zeke takes a few more samples, because they're useful. "Once again, our... patrons have chosen a unique and profitable planet. They are indeed very good at this." Yeah, well. Once the toaster dings back on the ship we'll see. * Kyle goes ahead and takes some pictures of the place while he's at it. Yay 3D cameras! (We can head back to Mars and be done whenever everyone else is .) (I think I'm good with the planet. Although I don't have a name!) Yeah, they got a real talent for that. Let's get going. * Lexi nods. "Right-O!" * Hestia heads back to the ship. Via the skimmer that's conveniently parked outside. * Zeke and the drones gather up and head back as well, gear hanging off his back arm! <>
